Twist n' Write Pencil

Item: Pencil

We love this nifty writing tool, the Twist n' Write pencil! This is a great tool for encouraging a functional pencil grasp.

It is designed especially for children's smaller hands and ideal for left or right handed people. The unique wishbone design forces a functional tripod pencil grip.

The Twist n Write pencil comes with one lead already installed and is appropriate for primary school aged children.

      Start early: Twist n Write

"The Twist n Write pencil is the perfect tool for correct pencil grip. Don’t delay purchasing and using this corrective device. The earlier it’s used the more likely a transformative grip will be encouraged."

      Amazing!

"My 8 year old has asd,adhd-c & dysgraphia and since finding this pencil he now does handwriting while doing school work which is fantastic as it helps his muscles to not spasm or cramp immediately while holding his pencil."

      Amazing improvement!

"I am so, so grateful for this pen. I am a teacher and my son has always been a reluctant writer. After this pencil his writing has improved immensely. I immediately ordered four more. Thank you so much!"

      Game changer

"This pencils is a game changer for my child. My child has a rare form of muscular dystrophy, which causes muscle weakness and arthritic pain in her joints. Using a normal pencil she struggled to get her school work done. Since purchasing these rocket pencils she’s been able to get all her work done. She’s says her fingers no longer get sore or tired when writing. It would be amazing if they came in bigger sizes to accommodate growing hands or even a biro option. She’s also asked if they come in colours. I highly recommend these to any child who has difficulty gripping a pencil."

Great help to writing we needed.

"My 7 yr old son is already saying writing is easier. Pressure and holding a pencil was where he was having a problem. His class were very interested in what he had. So he got up and explained his pencils and asked if anyone had any questions or comments. He also told them about the diffability website and that how we all have different abilities."

      Q&A

Hello, is the Twist and Write pencil available in an adult size? I have Focal Dystonia in my hand. Thank you, Barbara
Hello, thank you for reaching out. The Twist n' Write pencil is more suitable for children, however there is another product called the PenAgain that may help. This product can be found on Amazon and other online stores. Hope this information helps :)
Hi how can i ensure i receive the blue or green coloured ones when choosing the 2 pack thanks
Hello! Thank you for your question. If you require a specific colour please leave a note for our team at checkout : ) You can also reply to your order confirmation email if you like / have trouble leaving a note at checkout. Let us know if you have any other questions! : )
Hi, my son has these pencils and they are awesome but his teacher is asking if they come in different lead softness - eg 6B. Thanks Sue Shailer
Hello Sue, thank you for your message. We are pleased to hear the pencils are working well for your son. Unfortunately there are no other leads available for these pencils. The only variant that is similar to this item is our pen again https://www.mydiffability.com.au/products/penagain-ergo-sof-ballpoint-pen-blue - not sure if this is appropriate now, but perhaps something to consider in the future. Hope this information has been helpful :)
My 9 year old boy has most likely got dyslexia/dysgraphia and was told that he wasn't allowed to use the "Twist and Write Pencil" at school. Does the Educational Department have that much control?
Hi there, thank you for your question regarding the twist n write pencil. I'm afraid we are not able to provide specific advice around this issue, however in our experience these sorts of barriers do sometimes present themselves. If you have found the pencil to be of benefit to your son and / or it has been recommended by a professional as a writing aide, I would suggest you arrange to have a meeting to discuss his needs with his school team. In our opinion, adapted / specialist resources including writing aids, sensory supports, etc are comparable to for example allowing a child with a visual impairment to wear glasses in the classroom, or a child with a physical impairment to use a wheelchair at school. I think it is important to try to understand why the school has said he is not allowed to use it and then go from there. All the best - we hope you are able to find a resolution soon
