Support communication and interaction with this easy-to-use, ready-to-go AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) book. My Communication Book is an AAC Visual Support Tool designed in Australia. This visual communication tool helps children express their wants, needs, feelings, and choices using picture-based vocabulary. Ideal for families, educators, and speech therapists, it’s a low-tech AAC option that’s portable, durable, and effective. Whether your child is just starting with AAC or looking for a simpler alternative to high-tech devices, this book offers a meaningful way to build communication skills every day.

How do I use this AAC Book?
Learning to use an AAC system is just like learning to talk. A child will learn best by having the system modelled to them. In other words, the input matches the output. The most natural way for kids to become confident with an AAC system is to have their communication partners (that means you, their teachers and whoever they regularly communicate with) use that system as well. As you talk to them in everyday interactions, point to key word pictures as you go. This helps them to attach meaning to the symbols, as well as developing an understanding of how to use the system for real life communication (a range of pragmatic functions). The more practice and experience the child has, the more confident they will become.
